Looking after your skin after treatment
Good aftercare is part of the treatment. The guidance below is general. The advice you are given on the day, for your skin, always comes first. If you are ever unsure, contact us.

Microneedling aftercare
What to expect
Redness and a feeling similar to mild sunburn are common for one to three days. Some people notice dryness, tightness or light flaking for a few days afterwards. This is a normal part of the skin’s response.
The first 24 hours
- Do not touch the treated area with unwashed hands.
- Do not apply make-up or any skincare other than what we have advised.
- Avoid exercise, saunas, steam rooms, swimming and anything that makes you sweat or heats the skin.
- Avoid alcohol.
- Sleep on a clean pillowcase.
The first week
- Cleanse gently with lukewarm water and a mild cleanser. No scrubs, exfoliants, retinol, vitamin C or acids until we tell you it is safe to reintroduce them.
- Apply a broad spectrum SPF 50+ every morning and reapply through the day. Avoid direct sun exposure.
- Do not pick or peel flaking skin. Let it come away on its own.
- Avoid facials, waxing, laser or other treatments on the area.
- Make-up can usually be used again after 24 to 48 hours, depending on how your skin is settling.
Scalp microneedling aftercare
What to expect
Mild redness and tenderness of the scalp are common for one to two days. Some people notice a little dryness or light flaking as the scalp settles.
The first 24 hours
- Do not wash your hair. We will tell you when you can.
- Do not apply any hair products, including dry shampoo, oils, sprays or styling products.
- Avoid exercise, saunas, swimming and anything that makes you sweat.
- Avoid alcohol.
- Avoid wearing a tight hat or anything that rubs the scalp.
The first week
- When we have said you can wash your hair, use lukewarm water and a mild shampoo. Avoid hot water and vigorous scrubbing.
- Do not colour, bleach, chemically straighten or perm your hair until we tell you it is safe.
- Avoid direct sun on the scalp. Wear a loose, clean hat outdoors.
- Avoid facials, waxing, laser or other treatments on the area.
- Do not pick at any flaking.
Medical skin peel aftercare
What to expect
This depends on the strength of the peel. Mild redness and tightness are common. Flaking or peeling may begin around day two or three and continue for several days. Not everyone peels visibly, and that does not mean the treatment has not worked.
The first 24 hours
- Do not touch the treated area with unwashed hands.
- Do not apply make-up or any skincare other than what we have advised.
- Avoid exercise, saunas, steam rooms, swimming and anything that makes you sweat or heats the skin.
- Keep the skin cool. Avoid hot showers on the face.
The first week
- Cleanse gently with lukewarm water and a mild cleanser. Pat dry, do not rub.
- Keep the skin well moisturised with the product we have advised.
- Apply a broad spectrum SPF 50+ every morning and reapply through the day. Strict sun protection is essential. Avoid direct sun exposure for at least a week.
- Do not pick, peel or scrub flaking skin. Let it come away on its own.
- No scrubs, exfoliants, retinol, vitamin C or acids until we tell you it is safe to reintroduce them.
- Avoid facials, waxing, laser or other treatments on the area.
LED light therapy aftercare
What to expect
There is usually no downtime. Some people notice mild warmth or slight redness that settles within a few hours.
After your session
- You can return to your normal day straight away.
- Keep the skin hydrated and apply a broad spectrum SPF 50+ before going outdoors.
- If LED was added to another treatment, follow the aftercare for that treatment. It takes priority.
Carboxy therapy aftercare
What to expect
There is usually no downtime. Mild redness or warmth may be present for a short time after treatment and settles on its own.
After your session
- You can return to your normal day straight away.
- Keep the skin hydrated and apply a broad spectrum SPF 50+ before going outdoors.
- Avoid harsh exfoliants, retinol or acids for the rest of the day.
- If carboxy therapy was part of a program with another treatment, follow the aftercare for that treatment as well.
Skin booster aftercare
What to expect
Small raised bumps at the injection points are expected and usually settle within one to two days. Redness, swelling, tenderness or bruising may last several days. Please allow for this if you have an important event coming up.
The first 24 hours
- Do not touch, press or massage the treated area.
- Do not apply make-up or any skincare other than what we have advised.
- Avoid exercise, saunas, steam rooms, swimming and anything that makes you sweat or heats the skin.
- Avoid alcohol.
- Sleep with your head slightly elevated on a clean pillowcase.
The first week
- Cleanse gently with lukewarm water and a mild cleanser. Pat dry.
- Apply a broad spectrum SPF 50+ every morning. Avoid direct sun exposure.
- Avoid facials, massage, waxing, laser or other treatments on the area.
- Avoid blood thinning supplements such as fish oil or high dose vitamin E unless they have been prescribed, as they can increase bruising. Do not stop any prescribed medication without speaking to your doctor.
- Bruising can be covered with make-up after 24 hours if the skin is intact.
