Every treatment at Vianova begins the same way: with a conversation. Before anything is booked, before any product is chosen, we sit down together and look at your skin, your history and what you actually want. This article walks through what that first appointment involves, so you know what to expect before you arrive.
Why we start with a consultation
Skin and scalp treatments are not one size fits all. A treatment that suits one person may not be appropriate for another, because of their skin type, their health history, a medication they take, or simply what they are hoping to achieve. The only way to know what is right for you is to assess you properly first.
That is why the Initial Consultation & Assessment is a separate appointment, and why it is free. It gives us both the time to make a considered decision, with no pressure to proceed.
Before you arrive
Your consultation takes around 30 minutes. We are at Studio 15 inside the Salon Lane building, 130 Commercial Road, Teneriffe. Street parking is available on Commercial Road and the surrounding streets, and spaces can be limited at busy times, so we suggest allowing about 15 minutes to find one.
When you arrive, let the reception team at the front know you are here for Vianova. They will let us know, and point you in the right direction.
It helps to bring a list of any medications or supplements you take, and to know roughly when you last had any skin treatments elsewhere. If you use particular skincare products, a photo of the labels is useful. None of this is essential, but it makes the conversation more precise.
You are welcome to bring a support person with you.
What we talk about
The first part of the appointment is a conversation. We will ask about:
- What has brought you in, and what you would like to change or maintain
- Your general health, including any conditions, allergies and medications
- Previous skin or scalp treatments, and how your skin responded
- Your current skincare routine
- Anything that may affect treatment timing, such as pregnancy, breastfeeding, an upcoming event or travel
There are no wrong answers. The more we understand, the better we can advise you.
What we assess
We then look at your skin, or your scalp, under good light. We are looking at texture, tone, hydration, sensitivity, any areas of concern, and how your skin is likely to respond to different approaches. If you are interested in scalp treatment, we also look at the pattern of thinning, as some causes need a review by your GP before any treatment begins.
This part is unhurried. You are welcome to ask questions as we go.
What we recommend
After the assessment, we talk through the options that may suit you. For each one, we explain what the treatment involves, what the appointment is like, the expected recovery, the possible risks and side effects, and the price.
Sometimes the recommendation is a single treatment. Sometimes it is a planned series, because some treatments are designed to be done as a course. And sometimes the recommendation is to wait, to see your GP first, or not to have treatment at all. If something is not suitable for you, we will tell you plainly and explain why.
We will also talk about alternatives, including the option of doing nothing. Individual outcomes vary, and we will not promise a particular result.
Prices and plans
All of our prices are listed on this website and will be confirmed with you during the consultation, before anything is booked. If a series of sessions is appropriate for you, we may suggest a treatment package. Packages are only offered after a consultation confirms they suit you, and their full terms are listed on our Treatment Packages page.
There is no obligation to book anything on the day.
What happens next
If you would like to go ahead, you can book your first treatment appointment before you leave, or take some time and book later online, by phone or by WhatsApp. Treatment appointments require a deposit at the time of booking.
If you decide treatment is not for you right now, that is completely fine. The consultation has still done its job, which is to give you clear, honest information.
A few common questions
Is the consultation really free?
Yes. The Initial Consultation & Assessment is free of charge and there is no obligation to proceed.
Can I have treatment on the same day?
Not at the first consultation. Treatment is a separate appointment, which gives you time to consider the information and gives us time to prepare properly.
Do you treat people under 18?
No. We only provide treatments to adults aged 18 and over.
What if I have had treatment elsewhere?
That is very common. Just let us know what you have had and roughly when, so we can plan around it.
